At the end of November the second international conference “In the City”, dedicated to urban technologies was held in St. Petersburg. Experts from the USA, the Netherlands, Indonesia and Russia took part in it. The conference program was organized by the “Strelka “Institute team.
The purpose of the conference was to discuss the concept of «Smart City», artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, analysis of big data and use of digital twins in the context of urban development.
At the conference, lectures were given by Matthew Claudel, a researcher from «MIT», Leo Shtukkkadt, an architect of the Dutch bureau «MVRDV», Anna Dubovik, Boris Belozerov and Anton Beskhodarny, an American urbanist Adam Greenfield and others.
In addition to lectures, two workshops were held as part of the conference. At one of them, the participants created a neural network that can automatically detect where water, greenery, residential and non-residential buildings are in the city, and visualized the results. The second workshop was dedicated to the creation of chat bots that automated the process of collecting data from citizens in messengers.
«In the City» conference has been held for the second time. The first one took place in St. Petersburg in December 2018. In total, 1,000 people attended these lectures and workshops. Another 25,000 people followed the online broadcast on social networks and Youtube.
