Tomsk was ranked among the top-20 best cities in the country with the highest quality of life. The ranking was compiled by the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.
Experts assessed the quality of life in large and medium-sized Russian cities. The ranking of cities in terms of quality of life was based on how the residents of certain cities assess the work of services responsible for road repair, development of education and culture, the condition of housing and urban amenities, the work of local authorities and the quality of medical care, etc.
According to all the criteria listed above, Tomsk ranked 16th among 78 cities of the Russian Federation.
Other Siberian cities took the following positions in the ranking: Irkutsk is the 7th, Kemerovo is the 10th, Novokuznetsk is the 11th, Novosibirsk is the 12th, Barnaul is the 20th, Omsk is the 74th.
Kazan became the leader. The residents of this city highly rated the general condition of the city and the roads. Grozny ranks the second in terms of quality of life, and Tyumen ranks third.
