“Urban Practices” will take place in Tomsk

Educational Intensive for professionals in the field of urban development — “Urban Practices” will take place in Tomsk from 29 March to 17 April 2021. Graduates of the programme Architects.RF, experts from the Strelka KB, will be the speakers.

The intensive consists of four thematic blocks: integrated territorial development, pre-project analysis, working with the historic environment and existing buildings, presentation and storytelling skills. The programme includes lectures and online presentations, as well as workshops.

The events will take place off-line and online. The participants in teams will create ideas for the development of Tomsk’s historical buildings and present them in the final of the programme.

Speakers of «Urban Practices» will be Larisa Romanova, the head of department of restoration and reconstruction of historical heritage at Tomsk State University of Architecture and Building, Konstantin Kazantsev, director of projects at Strelka KB, Ekaterina Maleeva, founder of architectural bureau JUUL | FROST Helly Yule (Denmark), experts in tourism and others.

«Residents of the Tomsk Region demonstrate a great interest in the issues of urban environment. For example, last year alone, almost 115 thousand people participated in discussions and voting on the selection of areas for improvement under the project «Formation of a comfortable urban environment». Tomsk did not become the venue of the “Urban Practices” Intensive for nothing: I think that it will bring together a lot of active people interested in making their city more comfortable,» said Evgeny Parshuto, Deputy Governor of the Tomsk Region in Construction and Infrastructure.

According to Anton Finogenov, Deputy General Director of the DOM.RF Foundation, the specialists who have completed training at «Urban Practices» acquire knowledge which helps to create a new image of Russian cities.

«Urban Practices» is a part of the Architects.RF programme, which is implemented by DOM.RF Foundation in strategic partnership with Strelka Institute with the support of the Ministry of Construction and the Russian Government. In Tomsk, the intensive is organised in collaboration with the Center for Urban Environment Development of the Tomsk Region with the support of Tomsk Region Administration.
