An Indian architectural bureau has designed a net-zero energy observation tower

The Indian bureau NUDES has designed a net-zero energy observation tower «Solar Tree». It will be made of wood and equipped with solar panels. According to the authors of the project, this construction of the building will help to combat climate change.

The 35-meter-high observation tower resembles a tree. There is a «trunk» in the center of the building — a spiral steel ramp, from which wooden corridors branch off into the floors of the building. The modular cells are installed along the outer perimeter, tangentially to the corridors.

Each modular cell consists of a small observation deck designed so that a person can see the landscape without visual barriers, and a «solar sheet» — a long and curved ledge covered with solar panels.

It is assumed that the electricity generated from sunlight will be more than enough to fully meet the needs of the building. That is, the observation tower not only will not require external power supply, but also will be able to transfer excess electricity to other objects.

All this will allow the «Solar Tree» to get the status of a building with a positive energy balance.
