Rating of the most optimistic cities

In January 2021 experts from an independent agency “Zoom Market” conducted a study that ranked Russia’s cities with the most optimistic residents. Its leaders became Krasnodar, Moscow and Tomsk.

The ranking was based on four questions. Citizens were asked whether they try to find a positive side to any situation in life, and whether they think that failures and difficulties help them to gain useful experiences.

In addition, the experts were also asked how often people in the cities complain about failures and how they feel about the past.

A total of 2,760 people from 23 Russian cities took part in the survey.

According to the survey, only 29% of respondents try to find a positive side to any life situation. 46% of respondents believe that failures and difficulties help them gain useful life experience. 18% are used to complaining about unfortunate circumstances. 54 %  of respondents care more about the past than the future.

Last place in the top 10 optimistic cities was occupied by Sevastopol, while Saransk, Perm and Omsk topped the rating of the most «pessimistic» Russian cities.
