The architectural competition for the best development concept of the Red Square has been completed in Krasnoyarsk. The experts have chosen three winners out of 14 submitted projects. The projects of the competition participants will become the basis for the reconstruction of a landmark place for the city.
The winner of the competition has been the art group «ChertI». According to their conception, the Red Square will be visually divided into two parts — a memorial with a «Monument and Fire of Memory,» as well as a mass grave, and walking, where there will be a scene, skateboard and a long pond of rectangular shape. Under the square itself an underground parking is planned to be built.
The architects have faced the task to preserve the Red Square’s historical significance and memorable objects, making the space more functional and attractive for citizens.
«When preparing the project, it is very important to take into account such an aspect as preservation of memorable objects. At the same time, the square should acquire a modern look and become a more functional public space,» said Mayor Sergei Yeryomin.
The winning concept will be taken as a basis for further improvement of the territory and developed together with the authors.
