Researchers from the “Urbanika” Institute of Territorial Development announced Krasnodar to be the most comfortable and affordable city in Russia.
According to Fedor Konkov, managing partner of the “Urbanika” Institute, a favorable climate, active development, low cost of living and rapid population growth ensured Krasnodar’s leadership in the ranking.
Surgut, Saint-Petersburg, Tyumen and Kaluga are also among the top five cities. In Surgut and Tyumen, high salaries line up with a high standard of living and a comfortable urban environment. Tyumen population, like in Krasnodar, is growing rapidly. Saint-Petersburg has a favorable environmental situation and good housing.
One hundred Russian cities with a population of more than 173, 000 people have participated in this research. The climatic conditions, the average level of salary, the availability of housing, transport accessibility and creation of living environment were taken into account when assessing the cities.
