Zurich has been ranked as the most inclusive city in the world, according to the “Prosperity and Inclusion City Seal and Awards” (PICSA) index.
The PICSA index, made public at a gala event in the city of Bilbao in northern Spain, ranks cities around the world in terms of their inclusive prosperity — the city’s ability to enable all inhabitants to contribute and share the benefits.
Specific measures include personal safety, access to education, access to internet, housing affordability, environmental quality and access to healthcare.
The top five cities on the index were dominated by cities from northern Europe, with Zurich topping the list, followed by Vienna, Copenhagen, Luxembourg and Helsinki.
«There is growing awareness of the importance of inclusive growth to sustain the viability and competitiveness of an economy,» said Asier Alea Castanos, official representative from the “PICSA” commission.
