Ten Russian Cities with High Cultural Potential

“Forbes” selected ten Russian cities (apart from the capital), the development of which has reached a qualitatively new level in recent years. They assessed the quality of life, urban planning and culture.

Nizhny Novgorod is first in the ranking. The street art festival «Mesto» (Place), which attracts residents from the whole country, allowed the city to take this position.

Saint-Petersburg ranks second among the Russian progressive cities. It has a rich cultural landscape. The position in the raking is affected by the proximity of Finland and Karelia.

Kazan is in the third place. According to the experts, the city is awarded this position due to the new environmental standards.

Kazan is followed by Ekaterinburg, where the Ural Industrial Biennale has been held for several years.

The top five is rounded out by Vladivostok, where there are all the resources necessary for cultural development: museums that work with Far Eastern artists, the Center for Contemporary Art, where they organize international art residencies.

According to the magazine, the top ten best cities also include Krasnoyarsk, Tula, Yaroslavl, Kostroma and Irkutsk.
