«Your way to well-being!»: Laboratory staff have begun a series of surveys and seminars in areas with low and heterogeneous density of social infrastructure

Researchers of the Laboratory for Comparative Research in Quality of Life with students of the Faculty of Psychology and representatives of the Laboratory for Biodiversity and Ecology (Research Institute of Biology and Biophysics) of TSU have begun a series of surveys and seminars about well-being among teenagers in areas with low and heterogeneous density of social infrastructure within the frame of project: «Resilience and subjective well-being in youth living in urban, rural and nomadic communities of Siberia».

Researchers have visited Seyakha settlement (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug), Semiluzhki village in Tomsk district. They are going to visit Alexandrovskoye, Oktyabrskoye, Mogochino, Asino, Kargala, Molchanovo.

— «We do not know whether the project will succeed in moving beyond Siberia, but one of the schools in Vorkuta has already accepted our researchers». — says project team leader Svetlana. V. Tyulupo.

Svetlana. V. Tyulupo notes that the research and educational tasks at this stage of the project are combined. Together with the survey, scientists hold a small seminar for its participants. The theme of it: «Your way to well-being!».

Pupils from the rural schools believe that understanding is the most important condition for well-being, but they argued about the importance of money for well-being.

The most important things to talk about, when describing the first results of these, is the relevance and mutual interest in cooperation.

— «We really need you! We have wonderful, talented pupils. But from the village they can’t see that horizon to which they could rush » — says the director of the Semiluzhinsky school Lilia W.

For young scientists, such experience is an opportunity to understand the relevance of the research and its practical significance.

«Of scientific activity I had waited for discussions, debates, from the practice — a push to get started, a drop of confidence. I had had the question: «What is the relevance of your research?». And finally I have got an answer to it: Relevance is about burning eyes, in which you see interest, it is about awareness, about energy to action and gratitude. When you realize, that you could start the process of awareness at least in the mind of one person, you begin to understand, what is the relevance of scientific research». shares impressions about the surveys and seminars young employee of the Laboratory for Comparative Research in Quality of Life Valeria Benkova.
