Ranking of Russian regions with the highest Quality of Life-2020

As in previous years, Moscow, St. Petersburg and the Moscow Region topped the rating of Russian regions with the highest Quality of Life in 2020, while the Republic of Tyva, Zabaikalsky Krai and Karachaevo-Cherkessia rounded out the rating.

Experts of the RIA Novosti Research Center analyzed 70 indicators included in 11 groups that characterize key aspects of quality of life in the region: income level, employment and labor market, housing conditions, safety of living, demographic situation, environmental and climatic conditions, public health, education level, availability of social infrastructure facilities, economic development level, small business development level, territory development and urbanization.

The regions’ positions in the final rating were determined on the basis of integral rating score, which was calculated by aggregating the scores of the subjects of the Federation in all the groups.

In compiling the rating, were used data from the Federal State Statistics Service, the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation and other public sources.

Thus, Moscow, St. Petersburg and the Moscow region, whose aggregate rating score exceeded 75 (possible minimum – 1, possible maximum – 100), became the leaders of the rating. Moscow has got 82.16 points, St. Petersburg – 80.63, the Moscow Region – 76.07.

The top ten also includes Tatarstan, Belgorod Region, Krasnodar Krai, Leningrad Region, Voronezh Region, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra and Kaliningrad Region.

Kalmykia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Ingushetia, Kurgan Region, Altai Republic, Buryatia, Jewish Autonomous Region, Karachay-Cherkessia, Zabaykalsky Krai, and Tyva Republic are outsiders of the rating.
