The eco-city will appear in Singapore

Tenga, an ecological city of the future, will be built in Singapore. The city will have a central cooling system, farms will be located next to multi-storey buildings, and residents will be able to move around in electric cars.

Tenga will consist of five districts. Gardens will be planted in the city and agriculture will be organised.

Railway networks and car parks will be underground. According to the authors of the project, this will make free places for gardens, vegetable gardens and bicycle paths. It will be possible to move around the city primarily by electric cars. Charging stations for them will be installed in all car parks.

It is also planned to install a centralised network of air conditioners in the new eco-city, which will use solar energy. Experts believe that this network can reduce energy consumption by 30%.

The creation of such network will be a step towards solving one of the country’s key problems: Singapore has the largest number of air conditioners per person in Southeast Asia. As a result, the amount of energy needed to condition the city from 2010 to 2030 could increase by 73%.

The first 42,000 flats will be built in Tenga by the end of 2022 or early 2023. Each flat will have a smart energy control panel, and an automatic waste transport system will collect rubbish through underground pipes.

According to Lahiri Vijedas, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Environmental Studies at the National University of Singapore, the creation of such eco-cities will help reduce the long-term carbon footprint.
