Students of National Research Tomsk State University (TSU) and students of Tomsk State University of Architecture and Building (TSUAB) under the leadership of the regional Center for Urban Environment will participate in the development of projects for improvement of public spaces in Tomsk, implementation of which is planned for 2021.
Konstantin Kazantsev, the Head of the Center for Urban Environment, notes that the country with the support of Ministry of Construction, Housing and Utilities of the Russian Federation is implementing the project «Urban Renovations», in which student volunteers from specialized universities in the regions gather in teams and perform various tasks to improve public spaces.
Design students from National Research Tomsk State University work together with the Tomsk Centre for Urban Renovation. This year it’s planned to unite them and Tomsk State University of Architecture and Building students, to join to the improvement of Tomsk territories, reports Kazantsev.
The process of working on the projects can be described as follows: the Center for Urban Environment organizes training seminars for students, where the basic principles of improvement, stages of work, subtlety of design and Public Engagement in the process of creating a new space are discussed, then students work on a particular territory, consulting with experts from the Center.
